Going over your allowed tonnage is the cause for most unexpected additional charges. Below is our Max Tonnage for each of our Boxes: Construction & Home Box - 10 Cubic Yard: 2 Tons - 20 Cubic Yard : 3 Tons - 30 Cubic Yard : 4 Tons - 40 Cubic Yard : 5 Tons Dirt and Concrete is not allowed in Construction & Home Box. • How much room do I need to fit my dumpster?
If you order a 10 or 20 yard box, you’ll need approximately 45 feet in length (about 3 car lengths) and for a 30 or 40 yard box, you’ll need approximately 60 feet in length (about 4 car lengths). You’ll also need to have 12 feet in width to give the driver 1 foot on either side to maneuver. In addition to the size of area, be considerate of what the dumpster will be placed on. The dumpster will be much heavier when filled, so take precaution when placing on concrete, asphalt, and soft dirt.
  • What should I do to prepare for my dumpster delivery?
The main item that you need to prepare for is ensuring there is enough room to not only fit your dumpster, but enough room for it to be delivered. See above FAQs for details. Now that you have your location picked out, you should also be aware of the following: Are you placing on street? - Check with your city to ensure no issues with placement on city property. - Place orange cones or large item to reserve the spot for your dumpster. Look up! When the dumpster is dropped off, it can reach heights close to 12' - 14'. Look out for electrical wires and tree limbs that can potentially get hit by the top of the dumpster.
  • How do I protect my driveway?
Depending on the type of dumpster, equipment used to pick up your dumpster, and especially weight, you can have the potential of scratching or damaging your driveway or concrete. We recommend placing plywood on the ground if you have concerns that it will scratch your driveway. If the dumpster is extremely heavy and there isn't enough concrete to support the weight, it can potentially cause damage to your driveway. Always bring up any concerns to your ECO BOX Recycling service representative prior to delivery.
  • What should I do to prepare for pick-up?
Now that you have your dumpster filled up and ready for pickup, make sure to do the following: Are they picking up on street? - Make sure dumpster is not blocked. If you need additional room in front of dumpster in order it to be safely picked up, then you should place orange cones or large item in front of dumpster to try to reserve space needed for pickup. Do not overfill Make sure there is NO material placed above the top of the dumpster. You could incur additional cost or in some cases, drivers will not pick up if it's deemed too dangerous to transport.
  • How far in advance should I order my dumpster?
ECO BOX Recycling standard lead-time is 2 days. For same or next day service, please call our office at (408) 639-1373. However, if you want to receive your dumpster delivery early in the morning, it's best to order one week ahead and specify time required. You should also call day prior to confirm time. This is especially important if you have a work crew or friends and family coming over at a scheduled time.
